The online auction giant that makes all your dreams come true for finding that special something you can't find anywhere else.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's like a giant garage sale in the sky.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Unfortunately, eBay's size makes it easy for people to sell stolen or unauthorized merchandise and not get caught.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To their credit, I think eBay does as much as humanly possible to police their site and shut down any offenders quickly.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, I recently discovered that plenty of mischief still occurs, especially with downloadable products.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When checking my email yesterday, I found two messages that disturbed me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The first was an automated message from eBay telling me about an auction selling an ebook about writing ebooks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another email came in from a good customer who sent me a link to another auction on eBay that, to them, "looked suspicious."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I clicked on the links for both auctions and found identical postings by two different sellers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Though they did not mention my ebook, "How To Write andPublish Your Own eBook... in as little as 7 Days," the blatant similarity between the wording on the auctions and my &lt;a href="http://www.7dayebook.com/"&gt;http://www.7dayebook.com/&lt;/a&gt; website aroused my curiosity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since they didn't reference the ebook they were selling by title, I decided to go ahead and buy from both sellers to see what they sent me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Imagine my horror when they both delivered my own ebook, which they were selling illegally.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I immediately got the auctions shut down, but the damage was already done.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Plenty of stolen merchandise gets sold via online auction sites.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;People call it "bootlegged" or "unauthorized copies" to soften the wording for what they really know is "stolen merchandise."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Of the two sellers mentioned above, I believe one knew he was illegally selling my ebook and didn't care, while the other person was just ignorant and thought she could sell it because she'd bought it from someone else.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Regardless of their true intentions, their actions were illegal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, let's discuss how you protect yourself and your intellectual property against illegal sales and "bootlegging" on eBay and other online auction sites.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First, set up automated searches on the major online auction services.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Set them up to automatically notify you whenever an auction gets posted that includes your name or the name of your product.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can also set them up to email you whenever an auction gets listed with certain keywords in it, in my case "write ebook."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Second, if you find someone has stolen your intellectual property (sales copy, ebooks, photos, graphics, software,etc.) you should first contact the seller and politely, but firmly, ask them to remove it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If they don't, or if they take more than a few hours to respond, you should contact the auction site directly to request an immediate take down of the offending auction.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;eBay's "Vero" program, for example, enables you to simply fax in a form or send an email to get an auction removed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You should also go back and check periodically to make surethat an offending seller doesn't start selling your product again once they think the uproar has died down.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Third, pay attention to emails from customers and prospects for signs of anything strange.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Watch for comments like "I saw your ebook for sale on eBay,"or "I saw it cheaper on eBay."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also, make sure to compare customer service inquiries to your customer database.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyone who asks specific questions about a product and appears to possess it, but never bought it from you, should immediately raise a red flag.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Always try to find out where they bought the product and get them to send you a copy of their email receipt, because all roads to the thief usually lead back through the credit card processor.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Finally, trust the never-failing boomerang of karma to come full circle and ultimately whack any thief in the head!&lt;br /&gt;----&lt;br /&gt;Jim Edwards is a syndicated newspaper columnist and the co-author of an incredible new ebook that will teach you how to write and publish your own highly profitable ebook in a week or less... even if you failed high school English class!&lt;br /&gt;=============================================&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why are some people getting rich selling their ebooks? Many affiliate  programs today provide support for affiliate marketing in the form of solo ads,  classified ads, banners, suggested signature lines, articles for your website or  blog, safelist memberships, viral e-books, viral reports, marketing videos and  autoresponder message series.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;These resources are often backed up by forums, chat rooms, teleconferences,  and tutorials where you can learn how to make the best use of these resources  for the affiliate program involved.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;It is not possible in two or three months to get to effectively use all these  resources or fully understand your affiliate program, the product and/or service  offering and the dynamics of the relevant target market.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;By not persisting with your affiliate program, you are missing learning  opportunities and under-utilising the resources available to you (which you are  ultimately paying for).&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;2.&lt;b&gt;Realization&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Persistence brings increased realization through exposure to these affiliate  resources, to successful affiliates and to the systems that support your  affiliate program.      - by Jim Edwards&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;© Jim  Edwards - All Rights reserved&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;a href="http://www.thenetreporter.com/"&gt;http://www.thenetreporter.com&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The  end of the free ride for email marketing looms on the&lt;br /&gt;horizon.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The  days of building up or buying a big email list and&lt;br /&gt;freely using it to market  and sell online are numbered like&lt;br /&gt;the dinosaurs heading for an ice age cold  snap.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The technical and time costs of dealing with email  traffic&lt;br /&gt;(primarily driven by rampant illegal spam) will soon break&lt;br /&gt;the  back of both Internet service providers (ISPs) and&lt;br /&gt;online email services. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Major online players like AOL and MSN are currently&lt;br /&gt;wrestling with  two solutions to the problem, but I&lt;br /&gt;personally think the almighty dollar will  win out in the&lt;br /&gt;end.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The two solutions proposed to stem the tide of  commercial&lt;br /&gt;spam once and for all revolve around either "white  listing"&lt;br /&gt;email senders or charging a "toll" (typically .25-1 cent  per&lt;br /&gt;email message) to allow email through.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Currently, ISPs and email  providers can either maintain&lt;br /&gt;their own white lists, as in the case of AOL,  or the can&lt;br /&gt;share one.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the "old" days, companies could (and still  do) subscribe&lt;br /&gt;to "black lists" (like SpamHaus.org) which exclude  email&lt;br /&gt;senders based on reports of spamming and other factors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Though  the "black list" method rates the least accurate,&lt;br /&gt;it's currently the most  popular simply because it requires&lt;br /&gt;the least effort by companies trying to  block spam.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, as spammers get smarter, black listing has  proven&lt;br /&gt;an ineffective spam deterrent and ISPs must get proactive if&lt;br /&gt;they  hope to survive.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, an inherent weakness in the "white list"  system&lt;br /&gt;makes charging for commercial email inevitable.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since white  listing requires effort on the part of the ISP&lt;br /&gt;or email provider (they must  ultimately pay real people to&lt;br /&gt;manage the list), this means additional cost. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Unlike a relatively inexpensive subscription to a "black&lt;br /&gt;list  service" which gets implemented automatically by&lt;br /&gt;software filters, white  listing requires people to do work&lt;br /&gt;which carries a real world cost. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bottom line: most ISPs and email services will not be able&lt;br /&gt;to create,  maintain or implement a white list for very long&lt;br /&gt;without charging. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yet, consumers tired of the avalanche of spam are demanding&lt;br /&gt;effective  protection by those they pay for Internet and&lt;br /&gt;email access.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thus, any  service hoping to survive long-term must adopt a&lt;br /&gt;hybrid of both the white  list and "toll booth" approaches.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This means not only evaluating the  legitimacy of every&lt;br /&gt;commercial email sender's methods, but also charging  them&lt;br /&gt;for the email they send through a particular service or&lt;br /&gt;network. It's  inevitable.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, the cry that immediately goes up at this point  sounds&lt;br /&gt;like this, "What about the "little guys" who can't afford to&lt;br /&gt;pay  the fee or the family newsletters that aren't&lt;br /&gt;commercial? Their forum postings are like “footprints in the sand” – they are not afraid to be different, to let their personalities shine through.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;If you are going to develop a distinctive profile, you need to understand your own strengths and capacities. Your distinctiveness as an affiliate marketer derives from your unique life history and skill set. You need to find an affiliate program that will build on these strengths and enable you to realize your potential.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;The real challenge for you as an affiliate marketer is to find an affiliate offering that draws on your unique knowledge, skills and competencies. You need an affiliate program that enables YOU to “shine”!&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;What “image” or “Internet profile” are you trying to create? Are you able to be yourself through your affiliate program? Or are you being an extension of someone else?&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;You need to find an affiliate offering that aligns with your desired profile and your unique competencies. This is the way to create an affiliate business, not just affiliate cheques.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;To achieve this, you have to develop yourself. You will need to progressively develop self-awareness, the capacity to overcome fear of visibility and a willingness to continuously review what you are doing. A real synergy will emerge as you learn to integrate your affiliate offering, your profile and your competencies.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;You will find that you will break through the glass ceiling as you make a real statement about who you are, what you value and what you have to offer. You will make a real difference because you can “add value” to your affiliate offering in a unique way. Without a careful survey of many different viewpoints, you can't formulate your own ideas and opinions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Although I've been marketing online for since 1997, I still spend time almost everyday researching topics relevant to my Internet businesses.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My email inbox overflows with ezines and newsletter subscriptions. I surf the Web to see what's new and what has changed in the Internet marteting realm. Most internet websites I go to now, all I see are pretty graphics everywhere. I see moving images, I see crazy JAVA, things flying around.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't get me wrong, some of these graphics are truly amazing - I love to see them! But, that's the problem! I only love to look at them, when I'm done looking at them, I LEAVE! Lately, there's been a disturbing trend of everyone spending huge amounts of money on web graphics. The problem? There is NO proof that this really helps your sales!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As a matter of fact, one of my biggest money makers is a consulting service...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;www.SingalMarketing.com/consultingte.html&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;...I put that page up in 5 minutes (after writing my copy). Believe it or not, but even being such a high priced service - that page converts about 2.5% - of course I get very targeted traffic...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;LOOK AT HOW UGLY IT IS!!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;BUT, it has content! It has great copy, it's got my face, my voice and a great service - the ACTUAL key ingredients to making a website that sells...Now, the problem is that most people are very logical - you would THINK that a good looking site should sell more - it makes sense right?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You expect that a good looking site probably increases your credibility - I mean, come on, it shows your visitor that you REALLY mean business, yadda yadda yadda...But, again, look at MY site - I'm selling a high priced consulting service to business owners - I'm actually selling my expertise in the internet business world. Yet, the site design (or lack there of) seems to have NO influence.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Just so you know, I DID try a nice fancy design for that page. You want to know what happened to my conversion? It plummeted down to 1.4%! Now, that I've got your attention, let's look at why it is that a prettier site probably sells less:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. More graphics take longer to load.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not everyone has fast internet yet - actually, most people don't. No one wants to wait for hours for a site to upload!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. More graphics distract your visitors from your message.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Your graphics can actually work against you because your visitors spend more time focusing on them than they do focusing on your copy! Remember, it's your COPY that sells - so if the visitor isn't reading the copy - he/she is NOT going to buy. Period.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Some visitors may not like the colors, you may be sending the wrong message to different cultures.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Just because YOU love the colors of your graphics and you love the color scheme of your website does NOT mean that your visitors do too. There it is, those are the three MAIN reasons to keep your website AS neutral AS possible.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;------------------------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;So, remember, PRETTY does NOT always equal more sales!&lt;br /&gt;------------------------------------------------------&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ugly sites DO sell and will continue to do so. What matters is what you're selling, your own expertise, and your copy writing. If you ignore the intellectual, financial or emotional needs of your affiliate downline, you do so at your own cost.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;TLC means &lt;strong&gt;using accessible language&lt;/strong&gt;  – writing in a way that others can understand.  This requires you to break down complex concepts and processes and describe them in simple terms so that the average person-on-the-Net can understand them. In addition, you will have one or more domains and web&lt;br /&gt;hosting  services and access to autoresponders (free and paid).&lt;span style="font-size:0;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;You&lt;br /&gt;might also be lucky enough to have a storehouse of e-books and&lt;br /&gt;articles  that you can draw on.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;The problem with this accumulation of diverse programs is  that it&lt;br /&gt;can cause you to become unfocused and can dissipate or drain&lt;br /&gt;your energy.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;There are parallels in the corporate world of the 1970’s when&lt;br /&gt;companies decided to diversify through random acquisitions.&lt;span style="font-size:0;"&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;By the&lt;br /&gt;1980’s, many companies were drained by these acquisitions and&lt;br /&gt;had to off-load them. The catch-cry was “get back to your core&lt;br /&gt;business”.&lt;span style="font-size:0;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;There was a strong move to “integration” of  processes,&lt;br /&gt;products and services to lift revenue and profit.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;In affiliate marketing, you too can explode your affiliate  revenue by&lt;br /&gt;identifying your core business and integrating other programs&lt;br /&gt;around this focus.&lt;span style="font-size:0;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;This will require some hard  decisions but it will&lt;br /&gt;be worthwhile in the end. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Here are 3 ways that you can achieve integration of your  programs.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;1. An integrated downline building  program&lt;/span&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;There are numerous downline building programs  available that can&lt;br /&gt;help you integrate your programs.&lt;span style="font-size:0;"&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;You need to make sure that the&lt;br /&gt;one you choose also builds downlines  in your core income producing&lt;br /&gt;business.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;It should also enable you to build downlines in traffic  exchanges,&lt;br /&gt;payment systems (such as Paypal, e-Gold, and IntGold) and other&lt;br /&gt;downline building systems.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;You should also make sure that the owner of the downline  building&lt;br /&gt;program is genuinely interested in helping you build your downlines&lt;br /&gt;and is not just focused on promoting themselves and their own&lt;br /&gt;affiliate  links.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;This form of integration enables you to promote one core  program&lt;br /&gt;URL and simultaneously build downlines in multiple programs,&lt;br /&gt;including your core business. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;b&gt;2. An integrated  autoresponder&lt;/b&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;Often affiliate marketers have one or more  autoresponder systems,&lt;br /&gt;a separate storehouse of e-books and a different  repository for articles.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;One way to integrate the functions of ezine publishing, lead  capture&lt;br /&gt;page creation and list building is to locate a provider/program that&lt;br /&gt;gives you an autoresponder integrated with an electronic warehouse&lt;br /&gt;of  software and e-books and a library of articles for your use.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can then build lead capture pages that offer an e-book or&lt;br /&gt;software (from the integrated warehouse) as a teaser and capture&lt;br /&gt;the  “lead” as a subscriber to your ezine (through using your&lt;br /&gt;autoresponder  link). As you become more proficient with writing articles, you will&lt;br /&gt;be able to include more and more of your own articles in your ezine&lt;br /&gt;and  build “resource boxes” or “author profiles” that direct prospects&lt;br /&gt;to  websites or blogs of your choice.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;b&gt;3. Why not adapt&lt;br /&gt;that post for your blog posting or create an article from the&lt;br /&gt;post?  You have written an article for your ezine, why not submit&lt;br /&gt;it to article directories and/or send it to your affiliate&lt;br /&gt;program downline?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Even if your posting to the forum is not adequate for an article,&lt;br /&gt;you might use the title or core concept for an article.  You&lt;br /&gt;could add the title to your "article ideas" repository -&lt;br /&gt;a spreadsheet, Notepad, word document or your mobile phone&lt;br /&gt;"to-do-list".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Recently, I created an article for submission to article&lt;br /&gt;directories.
